Cambiaso Risso Group’s evolving global protection and indemnity division is taking shape with further appointments in London and Italy.

The Genoa-headquartered company is forming a committee headed by Stefanos Vardalos to oversee the expanding global P&I operation.

Vardalos will be joined on the committee by fellow P&I experts Petter Gustav Meyer, Federico Marsano and Nicola Jones.

The announcement comes as the marine insurance broker confirmed on Monday three key appointments to its new London-based P&I division.

As TradeWinds reported last month, the company has recruited a London-based team that includes both Jones and fellow P&I veteran Malcolm Godfrey.

These will be joined by Nicky Ellis, who has worked for 27 years with Arthur J Gallagher. She is joining CR London as head of P&I operations.

Jones is returning to broking after five years as a senior underwriter with NorthStandard. She will be based in London as head of P&I UK with a wider area of responsibilities.

Godfrey, who also spent 18 years with Arthur J Gallagher, will assist the London-based team to develop the global P&I book further.

Growing reach

The appointments follow that of Luigi Zanga and Andreina Facello to Cambiaso Risso’s Italian P&I team.

They are expected to work together with the company’s established P&I teams in Norway and Greece.

Cambiaso Risso chairman Marco Risso and chief executive Mauro Iguera have been expanding the company after it was taken over in 2019 by France’s Siaci Saint Honore Group.

In addition to its long-established P&I operations in Norway through CR Nordic, the company acquired Genoa-based P&I specialist Costa Brokers and Greek P&I broker Fender in 2020.

In recent years, the company has expanded into special risks, yachting and dry cargo chartering.

In July, the company joined forces with Germany’s Leonhardt & Blumberg in the marine insurance broking sector.
